MLA stands for Member of the Legislative Assembly .
MLA'S view the concerns of their constituencies. They also try to solve problems. They introduce debate and vote on bills. MLA's also meet with and assist special interest groups working on issues such as the environment, child care, and impaired driving. They also have to attend meetings and community events.
Constituencies
Alberta is divided into different constituencies for federal elections.
People in certain constituencies vote for thier MLA's.
To become an MLA you must be an eligible voter, get a form from Elections Alberta signed by at least 25 electors in their district.
